If you don't know already, I have been playing hockey for well over a decade so yes I went to good and bad times. Countless fights, ignorant coaches, stupid referees and dumb team mates. So here is a quick guide trough my career!
At the age of 6, my dad put skates of my feet and suited me up for the ice rink without knowing what hockey was. I am telling you this by what my dad has told me because I don't remember anything of it! So the next thing I remember, is getting yelled at by the fans and the coach! Oh man was I in deep shit now. I still did not know what an offside was so I learned it pretty fast in the car on our way home.
I went to allot of tournaments around Montréal and outside and believe me, when we go outside the city, we expect the worse. Like we say that the rooms use to be a place to feed the pigs because they are so small and the arena looks like a barn and they play the gayest music what we call "porn music".
And waking up at 5:30 to go to a 6 o'clock practice was not always fun for my parents! Thank god my mom had a sleep disorder back then! And the arena was not so far from my house, about 5 minutes by car but when it snowed 5 inches of snow during the night, that's another story. Ah the old Pierrefonds arena, I really liked it. It was really old but that was like another home until they blew it up and built like a massive sport complex another 5 minutes away! Ok I wont say the new place sucks but its not the arena I was used to. It has 4 rinks witch one is Olympic size and the others are NHL size. It has a restaurant, a massive pro-shop, a bar, an arcade and a hall of fame kinda!
So for about 12 years now I have been playing this great game, I have made new friends and seen some old ones. But now, at the age of 15-16, kids tend to get into smoking and getting girlfriends witch is cool with me but when you start smoking, its the end for some and you all know what girls will say" We don't spend enough time together" and all that stuff so guys quite playing sports because of that! I am not saying all of them but they are some real cool chicks out there that dig hockey players!
This year, I am in junior level. That means I have another 4 years max to play hockey in an organized league. I am starting the tryouts in a few days and they can last for a month. There will be allot of kids this year so I got be on top of my game, if not, well its retirement for me but who knows, I mite join another league where the old farts play!
